RISLab and NREC Win Best Paper Award at SSRR 2024
New York, November 14 – Researchers from the Resilient Intelligent Systems Lab (RISLab) at the Robotics Institute (RI) and the National Robotics and Engineering Center (NREC) have received the Best Paper Award at the IEEE Symposium on Safety, Security, and Rescue Robotics (SSRR) 2024 for their work titled Rapid Quadrotor Navigation in Diverse Environments using an Onboard Depth Camera. This award recognizes outstanding contributions to field robotics, particularly in advancing safety, security, and rescue operations through innovative navigation technology for multirotor vehicles.

Honorable Mention for IEEE T-RO King-Sun Fu Memorial Best Paper Award
RISLab received an honorable mention for the IEEE T-RO King-Sun Fu Memorial Best Paper Award. This award is for our work “Autonomous Cave Surveying with an Aerial Robot”, which presents an exploration method in darkness using an aerial robot equipped with a depth camera for mapping, downward-facing camera for state estimation, and forward and downward lights.
